Tropical Smoothie

Smoothies are one of our favorite healthy breakfasts. As long as we have bananas and frozen fruit on hand, we can make a variety of delicious smoothies, full of flavor and nutrition.

We recently got a new blender. I have a bad habit of trying to make my blender do more than it’s capable of (we can’t afford a high-speed blender, one that actually could handle everything I throw at it!). So perhaps we go through blenders a little more often than I would like. But it gives an excuse to “level up” our blender every once in a while. Maybe one day I’ll work my way up to one of those fancy, it’ll-handle-absolutely-anything blenders.

Our most recently-purchased blender is bigger than others we have owned – it has an 8-cup capacity instead of just 6. This makes our morning smoothies even better, because we get bigger servings without having to make two batches. Which is awesome.

Tropical Smoothie
Makes 6 cups
1 cup milk
1 cup pineapple juice
2 bananas
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1 cup frozen mango
Juice of 1 lime
1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut

Combine all ingredients in blender. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for order in which to put ingredients; mine says liquids first. Blend on high speed until smooth.
